A Reading Group on THE REVOLUTION'S PROMISE
IN SOLIDARITÄT MIT THE FREEDOM THEATRE IN JENIN
Seid dabei wenn wir in einer Reihe von Treffen gemeinsam das Stück The Revolution’s Promise lesen und seine historischen und politischen Verknüpfungen betrachten.
Dabei werden wir uns mit der Geschichte Palästinas, dem Wirken des “The Freedom Theatre” und den Künstler*innen im Widerstand gegen Zensur, Besatzung und Repression auseinandersetzen.
Das Ziel ist es Wissen zu vertiefen und zu teilen. Schlussendlich gilt es auch, sich der Frage zu stellen welche Bedeutung Kunst und Kultur im politischen Kontext haben und was es heißt, ihre Freiheit zu bewahren?
Um eine anregende Diskussion zu gewährleisten, bitten wir die Teilnehmenden, das gesamte Stück vor dem ersten Treffen zu lesen. Dieses findet man unter theculturalintifada.com/script. Außerdem gibt es die Option, an der abschließenden szenischen Lesung teilzunehmen.
Eine deutsche Übersetzung ist in Arbeit. Das Gespräch findet sowohl auf Englisch als auch auf Deutsch statt.

Join us for a series of meetings as we delve into the play The Revolution’s Promise, examining its relevance to the historical and political world stage. Together we’ll navigate through Palestine's history, “The Freedom Theatre's” legacy, and the role of art in resistance movements.
Our goal is to create a shared understanding and foster deeper awareness as we seek to answer the question: what is the political impact of art, and what does it mean to preserve its freedom?
To ensure a fruitful discussion, we kindly request participants read the entire play prior to the first gathering, which can be found at theculturalintifada.com/script. A German translation is in progress. Conversation will be in both English and German.
